The Grand Parade will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 29th, 2012. The theme for this year’s parade is “The Banana Festival: A Celebration So Old It's Gold, 1962-2012.”
The special visitors for the parade this year will include political and government officials, Shriners, and winners from the beauty pageant, Kiddie Parade, and Banana Bonnet contests. There will also be a few other surprises!
. The “star” of the parade will once again complete the parade. The One Ton “Banana Pudding,” which will be served free to everyone in attendance in Pontotoc Park after the Parade.
The parade will have a Non-Professional and a Mini Non-Professional Float competition. The first place winner of the Non-Professional Float competition will receive $100 and the traveling trophy. This trophy will travel to a new business or organization this year who will display the trophy in their store, business or office. A new plate will be engraved with this years winner on it below the 2011 winner which was Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Many businesses particpated in 2011 and made the Grand Parade a huge success. Enter your organization and help make this years competition even tougher to judge.
